Eligibility

Only applications with a serious statement of purpose will be processed. You will have to provide your CV, a motivation letter, transcripts of records, Degree certificates or other documents to certify the study level needed for the course or programme at the host university. Proficiency in the language of instruction and other documents will be required. For detailed requirements, please see the programme information at the host university you are interested in.

The eligibility status refers to the time when the mobility starts.

Before you apply, you have to identify the target group you belong to and support this with proof of your status.

Mobility flows for students and academic staff between the European or between Third-country institutions are not eligible.

Concerning the academic qualifications, you must meet the minimum requirements specified below. You must also have additional academic qualifications if required for the specific course or program you are applying for.

Mobility of Indians towards Europe

  1. You must have the nationality of India.
  2. You must have sufficient knowledge of the language in which the courses are held.
  3. You must belong to one of the Target Groups as defined in the EMECW program.

Mobility of Europeans towards India

  1. You must have the nationality of one of the 27 European Member States of the European Union, or of one of the following countries: Croatia, Turkey, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway.
  2. You must have sufficient knowledge of the language of the courses or of one of the languages currently spoken in the hosting country.
  3. You must be registered at one of the partner European institutions.
  4. For post-doctorate mobility only, you must have obtained a doctorate degree in the last two years and must have the support of one of the European partner universities to carry out a post-doctorate mobility.

Undergraduate

You are eligible to apply if you hold a Secondary School Diploma. For Target Group 1 students it is also necessary to have completed at least 1 year of undergraduate university studies. Please note that specific courses or programs may have additional requirements for entry.

Master

You are eligible to apply if you have finished your Undergraduate studies or have completed three years of university education. Students currently enrolled in a Bachelor program, that will finish before the mobility starts may also apply, but they must declare their current situation and their commitment to obtain the necessary certification by the time the mobility starts through the Statement Of Commitment application/pdf (24.09 kB). Please study each partner university website concerning the master programmes special requirements.

PhD

You are eligible to apply if you have completed a Master program or have started your PhD studies already.
Students currently enrolled in a Master program that will finish before the mobility starts may also apply, but they must declare their current situation and their commitment to obtain the necessary certification by the time the mobility starts through the Statement Of Commitment application/pdf (24.09 kB).
Please note that some universities have special programs for their PhD students and some special courses that you need to apply for.

Post-Doctorate

Your post-doctorate activity abroad can consist in research, training and/or following highly specialized courses.
You are eligible if you hold a PhD degree from a University in India or in Europe.

Academic staff

Academic staff mobility refers exclusively to training, teaching and/or research activities performed by invited academic staff of partner universities in host institutions which are members of the partnership. The exchange may constitute a post-per-post exchange or a one-way visitor flow to or from a third-country.
Academic staff undertaking a period of teaching, training or research in a partner University must:

1. work in or be associated to one of the participating institutions;
2. have the nationality of one of the eligible countries
3. be fully integrated into the Department or Faculty of the host institution.

Your application must include an invitation letter from the host university including the program of lectures to be delivered by the visiting teacher, the research activities or type of training to be carried out.
